Also, prospective student-athletes should check the current NCAA banned drug classes as drug testing is now required for student-athletes.

So you are aware, there are strict NCAA rules and regulations that prohibit coaches and administrative personnel from sending letters to or calling high school students until after their junior year in high school.

While coaches are not permitted to write or call high school students if they are not eligible per the above restriction, high school students are permitted to telephone coaches and administrators prior to the completion of their junior year in high school, but only at the high school student's expense.

Those who are freshmen or sophomores in high school are also permitted to contact the admissions office for information regarding Delaware State and its academic programs. You may call our admissions office at 302-857-6351 or 1-800-845-2544. You may also e-mail at admissions@desu.edu. Undergraduate admissions also offers an on-line application form.

WARNING: If you are a student-athlete enrolled at another four-year institution or if you have been enrolled at another four-year institution in the last year (Division I, II or III), NCAA rules and regulations strictly prohibit us from having any communication with you, directly or indirectly, until that institution grants our institution permission to contact you. You may obtain this permission to contact at the compliance office of your current or previous institution.

Many students want to know the minimum SAT/ACT scores and GPA needed to be eligible to play Division I sports in their freshman year. The NCAA has a chart available on their site in PDF format. Prospective student-athletes may refer to this chart and immediately determine if their SAT/ACT scores meet the minimum NCAA requirements for freshman eligibility. If your SAT/ACT scores do not meet the minimum NCAA requirements, there is no way you can play in Division I sports in your freshman year of college. Therefore it would be wise to check the link below to make sure you meet eligibility requirements before sending your recruit information to the respective sports program.

If you have any questions or concerns about NCAA rules and regulations or if you have eligibility questions, please contact Kim Walker in the Delaware State University Compliance Office.
