Big-time talent joined the team this past summer. One of the top high school players in the state of North Carolina, and a highly prized recruit by the University of Cincinnati three seasons ago. Played one season at Cincinnati. Versatile, strong and athletic player. Capable of big scoring and rebounding numbers each game.

2005-06 (At Garden City CC): Earned team Player-of-the-Year honors after averaging 21.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game … led team to 17-13 overall record … also led team with 50 three-point field goals (50-for-142) … was 162-for-323 from the field (.502) … 2004-05 (At Cincinnati): Averaged 4.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 33 games … scored career-high 17 points (8-11 FG) and grabbed 11 rebounds in win over Jackson State (Dec. 20) … recorded his second career “double-double” by scoring 11 points and grabbing career-high 14 rebounds in win over LaSalle (Dec. 22) … tallied nine points, eight rebounds and three assists in win over San Francisco (Jan. 27) … contributed eight points (4-5 FG) and four rebounds to win over Texas Christian (Feb. 26) … started five games … High school: 2003-04 Gatorade North Carolina High School “Player-of-the-Year” during senior season at Mt. Zion Christian Academy … averaged 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.0 blocks per game to lead Mt. Zion to 30-1 record in 2003-04 … shot 55 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line that season … Most Valuable Player of the 2003 Dell Curry and Slam Dunk to the Beach (Del.) tournaments … MVP of the ABCD All-Star Game and Most Outstanding Player of the Delaware Roundball Classic … competed in EA Sports All-American Game … Mt. Zion retired his number “45” at the end of the 2003-04 season … NBA star Tracey McGrady is the only other player to have his number retired by the school … earned All-America and North Carolina All-State honors after averaging 28 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior at Northern High School in Durham, North Carolina in 2002-03 … Personal: Son of David and Annette Smith … full name is Roy Lamont Bright … has four brothers and two sisters … born 4/3/86.
